About The Film

An epic adventure of pint-sized rebellion, While You Weren’t Looking is a short independent family comedy about the first steps in growing up and letting go.

A daring young girl looking for adventure and a mother trying to keep her safe butt heads through a daily family dilemma – too much protection can be stifling, too little can be dangerous. When shy rascal Daylen sneaks away from Mom on a grocery cart, we see fantasies about what could happen from both mother and child.

An award-winning short at Seattle International Film Festival, the short also played at the Palm Springs ShortsFest, BUFF Sweden, the International Children and Young People’s Film Festival, Chesapeake Film Festival, Brooklyn Kid’s Festival, Providence Children’s Film Festival, Byron Bay Film Festival and won ‘Best Comedic Short’ at the International Family Film Festival.
